Checking what's compatible
Open Boot & OS to see the boot profile and operating-system controls for your server. The operating-system list only shows choices compatible with the selected hardware. If the server exposes more than one disk group, choose the intended installation group before selecting the number of target disks.
Switching boot mode for rescue work
In Change boot mode, select the profile you need, such as rescue mode, and any supported contact settings. Review the boot change before submitting it. The new mode only takes effect after a restart from Overview, so you control when the switch happens. Return to normal local-disk boot after the recovery work.
Choosing a storage layout
Provider default uses the layout recommended for the selected operating system. A predefined scheme applies one compatible saved partition table. Custom partitioning lets you add each filesystem, mount point, size in MiB, software RAID level and optional LVM logical-volume or ZFS zpool name. A size of 0 assigns the remaining space and can be used only once. Review the complete table before continuing.
Understanding which disks are erased
The provider uses the requested number of disks starting with the first disk in the selected target group. Disks beyond that number are not part of the installation layout, but the reinstall still erases them and leaves them available to the new operating system. Back up data from every physical disk, not only the selected installation disks.
Installing or reinstalling the operating system
Select one compatible operating system, disk group, disk count and storage mode. Confirm that you have a tested independent backup and remote-console recovery path. Then complete the exact destructive confirmation shown for the selected server. Do not proceed until the hostname, disk group and partition table all match the maintenance plan.
Confirming everything works afterwards
Use Remote console to watch the boot process or installer directly if normal access is unavailable. After any reinstall, verify network access, login credentials, the mounted filesystems and RAID or ZFS state, application data restoration, backups and monitoring before closing the maintenance window.
